Like many others worldwide (I discovered), I became obsessed with building a better tea cosy. One that would keep the darn pot warm while I sipped and dilly-dallied through the first cup(s). One that fit my rather spare design aesthetic* and wasn't all Victorian flowery. After several attempts with several different materials I finally came up with one that really worked and I liked. Clean-lined, a bit school-uniformy, eminently functional. I made them for my friends. Now I'm making them for sale -- a whole flock of tea cosies.

Only available for sale on-line, you can buy them at the flock's dedicated site flockofteacosy.com. For the moment you can also purchase them through my Etsy site.

They are hand-made of luxurious 1/8" (3mm) all-wool felt made in France and Germany which means they really hold the heat. (Like a thermos! I'm serious.) This fine felt also gives the cosy a nice heft and a beautiful hand-feel. Think Shaker furniture design -- simple, clean, functional with an enduring contemporary look.

In the spring of 2010 (May) I passed the exam and am now a Certified Tea Sommelier, one of the first 24 in Canada. The exam, presented by The Tea Association of Canada and George Brown College, followed graduation from GB's 100 hour/8 course Tea Sommelier program. Now I can tell you way more than you ever wanted to know about all things tea.

*Don't get me wrong I love a good frou-frou, party-it-up tea cosy design but just not for everyday.
